Skills are plain text instructions the agent follows, sometimes with scripts. Check the source, prefer repositories with many installs and stars, and read any script it ships.

Install

npx skills add DietrichGebert/ponytail@ponytail-help

Runs in a terminal with Node.js 18 or newer. Add -y to skip the prompts and -g to install for every project instead of this one.

Install for your agent

npx skills add DietrichGebert/ponytail@ponytail-help --agent claude-code -y
Project install writes to
.claude/skills/ponytail-help
Global install writes to
~/.claude/skills/ponytail-help

Start a new session afterwards so the agent picks the skill up. In Claude Code you can also call it directly with /ponytail-help.

What it does

Ponytail Help Display this reference card when invoked. One-shot, do NOT change mode, write flag files, or persist anything. Levels Level Trigger What change ----------------------------- Lite /ponytail lite Build what was asked, name the smaller option in one line. Full /ponytail The smallest complete change, a check where the logic needs one, and a reply that names what was skipped and any risk. Default. Ultra /ponytail ultra Also questions the request and pushes back before building. Level sticks until changed or session end. Skills Skill Trigger What it does ------------------------------…

Excerpt from the skill's own SKILL.md. Read the full file on GitHub before installing: skills run with your agent's permissions.
