PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills for Claude Code

149 skills for reading and producing office files, ranked by installs.

Office files are binary formats, so a skill here is more than instructions: it ships Python scripts that open, edit and save the file, and the SKILL.md explains when to use which one. That makes this the category where checking the folder before installing matters most. The scripts need Python and, for some conversions, LibreOffice on your machine.

The four Anthropic skills are the reference set: pdf extracts text and tables and fills forms, docx creates and tracks changes in Word files, xlsx builds spreadsheets with real formulas rather than pasted values, and pptx generates slide decks from an outline. They are the same skills Claude uses in its own file tools, which is why their install counts are high.

There is no HWP or HWPX skill in the index yet. For Korean government documents, the closest path is converting to DOCX first, then using docx.

Treat generated files as outputs, not sources: keep the Markdown outline or the data table in version control and regenerate the PDF or deck from it, so every edit stays reviewable.

  • pptx

    anthropics/skills

Use this skill any time a .pptx or .potx file is involved in any way — as input, output, or both. This includes: creating slide decks, pitch decks, or presentations; reading, parsing, or extracting text from any .pptx or .potx file (even if the extracted content will be used elsewhere, like in an email or summary); editing, modifying, or updating existing presentations; combining or splitting slide files; working with templates (.potx), layouts, speaker notes, or comments. Trigger whenever the user mentions \"deck,\" \"slides,\" \"presentation,\" or references a .pptx or .potx filename, regardless of what they plan to do with the content afterward. If a .pptx or .potx file needs to be opened, created, or touched, use this skill.

    emilkowalski/skills

Reverse-lookup glossary that turns a vague description of a web animation or motion effect into its exact term ("the bouncy thing when a popover opens" → Pop in; "the iOS rubber-band scroll" → Rubber-banding). Use when the user asks "what's it called when…", or describes a motion effect without knowing its name and wants the right word to prompt an AI or designer with. For naming an effect, not designing or building one.

  • pdf

    anthropics/skills

Use this skill whenever the user wants to do anything with PDF files. This includes reading or extracting text/tables from PDFs, combining or merging multiple PDFs into one, splitting PDFs apart, rotating pages, adding watermarks, creating new PDFs, filling PDF forms, encrypting/decrypting PDFs, extracting images, and OCR on scanned PDFs to make them searchable. If the user mentions a .pdf file or asks to produce one, use this skill.

  • docx

    anthropics/skills

Use this skill whenever the user wants to create, read, edit, or manipulate Word documents (.docx files) or Word templates (.dotx files). Triggers include: any mention of 'Word doc', 'word document', '.docx', '.dotx', or requests to produce professional documents with formatting like tables of contents, headings, page numbers, or letterheads. Also use when extracting or reorganizing content from .docx or .dotx files, inserting or replacing images in documents, performing find-and-replace in Word files, working with tracked changes or comments, or converting content into a polished Word document. If the user asks for a 'report', 'memo', 'letter', 'template', or similar deliverable as a Word or .docx file, use this skill. Do NOT use for PDFs, spreadsheets, Google Docs, or general coding tasks unrelated to document generation.

    203K installs 182K scriptsDocumentationWritingOffice documents
  • xlsx

    anthropics/skills

Use this skill any time a spreadsheet file is the primary input or output. This means any task where the user wants to: open, read, edit, or fix an existing .xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx, .csv, or .tsv file (e.g., adding columns, computing formulas, formatting, charting, cleaning messy data); create a new spreadsheet from scratch or from other data sources; or convert between tabular file formats. Trigger especially when the user references a spreadsheet file by name or path — even casually (like \"the xlsx in my downloads\") — and wants something done to it or produced from it. Also trigger for cleaning or restructuring messy tabular data files (malformed rows, misplaced headers, junk data) into proper spreadsheets. The deliverable must be a spreadsheet file. Do NOT trigger when the primary deliverable is a Word document, HTML report, standalone Python script, database pipeline, or Google Sheets API integration, even if tabular data is involved.

    aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills

Use when the user asks to "make everyone tell the same story", "write our elevator pitch ladder", or "build a spokesperson Q&A and approved boilerplate pack"; derives from the narrative-registry canon, message house, and brand voice a repeatable enablement kit — an elevator ladder (10-second / 30-second / 2-minute), a spokesperson Q&A (tough questions with on-canon answers), an approved boilerplate/bio pack (25 / 50 / 100-word), and a do/don''t language sheet — so sales, support, founders, and partners repeat one consistent story. Not for the launch-day runbook — use launch-day-conductor; not for finished per-channel copy — use content-writer or each discipline creative builder; not for launch-window battle cards — use sales-enablement-kit; this kit never adjudicates a claim. 叙事赋能包/电梯梯度/发言人问答/审定样板/该说不该说

Supports HuggingFace, vLLM, APIs.

  • modlens

    liustack/modlens

Plug-in vision for text-only models. Hard rule: when a file path or URL with an image extension (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp, .gif, .heic, .heif) appears anywhere in the conversation (typed by the user, injected as a `[Image: source: <path>]` line, or inside a tag) and you cannot see that image's content, run this skill on it before any other approach: no self-built OCR, no PIL, no tesseract. Also triggers on pasted-image placeholders such as `[Image #1]` and `[Unsupported Image]`. If you can actually see the image, do not use this skill. When unsure, run `modlens guard` before the first read of a session: a deny verdict means the active model has native vision and must read the image itself. Runs the modlens CLI to convert the image into structured JSON evidence: every word transcribed, layout regions, semantics, visual clues. Also use when the user asks how to install, configure, or switch modlens providers (Gemini API key, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Claude API or Claude Code CLI).
